Playing his game, his way.

He designed a convoluted chess game, and made all its rules.  He thought he will always be the one making the checkmate call.  He never realized someone else would learn and dare to play along for so long, let alone training machines to be the best world known players of it.  He never wanted to play chess after all.  He wanted to start playing a game whenever he wished, and end it whenever he wished.  Being exhausted of playing the longest game ever, he finally announced to his playmate "I do not want to play anymore".  His wish was granted, but he never looked at his own game the same way any longer.
